British Columbia’s Coquitlam Little League Named 2019 Little League Baseball® Canada Region Champions

 

ANCASTER, ONTARIO (August 10, 2019) – Coquitlam Little League out of British Columbia will be heading to Williamsport as the 2019 Little League Baseball® Canada Region Champions after defeating Diamond Baseball Little League of Quebec, 6-3, in the championship game.

Coquitlam Little League finished the tournament with a 7-1 record, its only loss coming to the team out of Quebec earlier in the tournament. Throughout their journey, they outscored their opponents, 62-33, in eight games.

This year marks the second time Coquitlam Little League will advance to the Little League Baseball World Series, the last time coming in 1984 when they earned an opening-round win over Belgium. This year marks the 60th time Canada will be represented in Williamsport, and the 26th team from British Columbia to represent the Canada Region, including 14 of the last 15 years.

For the third year in a row, the Little League Baseball Canada Region Championship was broadcasted live across Canada as Little League International, Little League Canada and CBC Sports partnered together to provide fans unprecedented coverage of Canada’s road to Williamsport.

Canada will begin their journey in the 2019 Little League Baseball World Series against the Mexico Region Champions on Friday, August 16, at 6 p.m. in Volunteer Stadium. Spanning the course
of 10 days, 32 games will be played in the 2019 Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, culminating in the Championship Game, which is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 25.
