Cutters Welcome In Muckdogs

Walk Off Sinks Cutters

The Williamsport Crosscutters were unable to hang on to a late lead in the back end of a doubleheader, dropping both games and all three games of the series to the State College Spikes.

Juan Aparico had a string day at the plate, finishing game one 2-3 with a pair of doubles, a run scored and a RBI.

Aparicio finished the 2nd game 2-3 with a double, a triple and two runs scored.

Edgar Made hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot that gave the Crosscutters a 3-2 lead in the 4th inning.

Corbin Williams stole three bases in the first game, giving him four thefts on the season.

Williamsport stole five bases over the course of the doubleheader extending their NYPL lead in the category.

Rafael Carvajal suffered the loss in game one, allowing six runs on seven hits and a walk. Carvajal struck out four in the outing.

In game two, Blake Bennett suffered his first blown save of the season and took his first loss of the year after surrendering a walk-off three-run home run.  All three runs were unearned.

The Crosscutters are now 1-3 in doubleheaders this season.

They posted a 4-2 record in doubleheaders in 2018.

Cutters washed out in State College

The Williamsport Crosscutters game in State College against the Spikes has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions. They have scheduled the make up for tomorrow, June 20th, with a doubleheader starting at 5:05 p.m.

It will be two, seven-inning games at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in State College.

Cutters/Spikes Series Shifts To State College

Simmons Homers In Loss

Logan Simmons provided the Crosscutters first home run of the season, coming in Williamsport’s 4-2, 10-inning loss to State College.

Simmons finished the night 1 for 4 with the home run and a RBI.

Brayan Gonzalez scored the 2nd Cutters run, beating the tag at home on a wild pitch.

Leonel Aponte got the start for Williamsport, allowing one run (earned) on two hits over four innings of work. Aponte surrendered a solo home run to Dariel Gomez.

Michael Gomez surrendered one run (earned) over and inning of work on three hit and and a walk, striking out two. Luis Cedeno worked three shutout innings, striking out two and hitting two batters.

Alejandro Made took the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) in relief. Made worked two innings, striking out a pair.

He allowed back-to-back RBI doubles with two outs in the top of the 10th.
