Crosscutters Fall in Rain-Shortened Game

The Crosscutters lost a rain-shortened game on Tuesday night in a 7-0 decision against Mahoning Valley. The rain was called in the middle of the sixth inning with hard downpours hitting the area.

The Scrappers evened the series one night after Williamsport had taken the opener on Monday in a blowout result, 9-1.

Tom Sutera (0-3) took the loss while allowing more than one earned run for the first time in his career. He gave up 5 runs in total, 3 of which were earned.

Right-hander Carlos Francisco threw 2.2 inning in relief allowing two runs on two hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Mahoning Valley (9-9) scored three runs in the first and single tallies in the second, third and fourth and then again in the sixth right before the rains came.

The Crosscutters and Scrappers wrap up the three-game series on Wednesday on Fireworks Night at BB&T Ballpark. Left-hander Taylor Lehman will start for Williamsport.
