Crosscutters Rout Scrappers in Homestand Opener

The Crosscutters blew away the Mahoning Valley Scrapper 9-1 on Monday night in the first of a six-game homestand for Williamsport. Logan O’Hoppe launched his first long-ball as a Crosscutter and Juan Aparicio drove home three to pace the Cutters’ attack.

The nine runs is the most in a game this season for Williamsport (4-13) eclipsing the eight-run total they posted this past Friday night at West Virginia.  Their five-run rally in the fifth tied their most runs in an inning this year.

Left-hander Junior Tejada worked four strong innings with a career-high seven strikeouts which also is the most by a Cutters pitcher this season tying the seven strikeouts racked up by Tom Lehman on June 17 against West Virginia.

The Crosscutters banged out three doubles and lead the league with 40 two-baggers.

Williamsport pitchers racked up 13 strikeouts on the night.

The Crosscutters and Scrappers will play the second of their three-game series on Tuesday night with RHP Tom Sutera (0-2, 0.90) starting for Williamsport.

Crosscutters Record: 4-13
