Cutters Drop 1-0 Pitchers Duel

The Crosscutters lost 1-0 at the Auburn Doubledays on Thursday night. And unearned run in the 6th inning was the lone tally of the game for either side.

The Crosscutters lost their ninth straight to tie a team record initially done in 2000.

Carlos Francisco, Anton Kuznetsov and Tom Sutera were all effective on the hill. Francisco started and went 4 innings of two-hit shutout baseball with one walk and zero strikeouts. Russian left-handed Kuznetsov worked a scoreless 5th.

Sutera was touched for an unearned run in the 6th but pushed through and struck out the side in the eighth inning.

Auburn left-hander Alex Troop began the game with eight consecutive strikeouts of Williamsport batters before

Christian Valerio doubled to left. Valerio went 2-for-3.

The Crosscutters had three doubles in the game (Valerio, Brayan Gonzalez and DJ Stewart) and are second in the New York-Penn League with 27 two-baggers.

Logan O’Hoppe went 3-for-4 with an rbi double and a run scored.

The Crosscutters are back in action Friday at 7:00 p.m. with right-hander Jose Conopoima getting the starting nod at
West Virginia.
