Errors Hinder Cutters

Niles, O.H.- Three Crosscutters errors led to three separate runs for the Scrappers as Williamsport fell 7-2 in the middle game of the series.

The Crosscutters were able to get starter Ethan Lindow a 1st inning lead, thanks to a RBI single from Edwin Rodriguez RBI single, scoring Ben Aklinski, giving the Cutters a 1-0 advantage. It was Rodriguez’s 17th RBI of the season.

Ethan Lindow saw that lead disappear in the bottom of the 1st, as he delivered a wild pitch that sent Tyler Freeman towards 3rd base. The throw from Jesse Wilkening went into left field, allowing Freeman to score and tie the game.

Freeman got to Lindow in the bottom of the 3rd inning, sending a 1-0 offering over the wall in left field to give the Scrappers a 2-1 lead. It was the 2nd home run allowed by Lindow this season.

Madison Stokes retied the game at 2-2, sending a Juan Mota offering over the wall in left to lead off the 6th inning. It was the first professional home run for Stokes, giving him his 11th RBI of the season.

Lindow worked the 6th inning, before getting relieved in the 7th inning by Robinson Martinez. Lindow allowed two runs over on four hits over six innings. He didn’t allow a walk, striking out eight batters in a no decision.

Martinez struck out the first batter he faced in the bottom of the 7th inning on a pitch in the dirt, Wilkening’s throw down to first was high and off the glove of Edwin Rodriguez, allowing Angel Lopez to run to 2nd base. With two outs in the innings,Ronny Dominguez ripped a RBI triple to right-center, scoring Lopez to make it 3-2 Scrappers.

Martinez was relived in the bottom of the 8th inning by Juan Escorcia, allowed one unearned run over an inning of work, striking out two.

Jose Fermin led off the bottom of the 8th inning with a two-chop shot that got under Stokes glove at 3rd base, the first error committed by Stokes this season, allowing Fermin to pull into 2nd base. The Scrappers would then get a RBI double fromHosea Nelson and later in the inning a two-run ground rule double from Henry Pujols, scoring four runs in the bottom of the 8th, taking a 7-2 lead.

The Crosscutters were only able to manage two base runners after the Stokes home run in the top of the 6th, dropping the middle game of the series to the Scrappers.

The Crosscutters wrap up their three-game series with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Eastwood Field.
