Five-Hit Shutout Runs Win Streak to Four


Batavia N.Y. –A trio of Cutters pitchers combined on the team’s first nine-inning shutout of the season in a five-hitter as the Crosscutters extended their win streak to four via a 7-0 pasting of the first-place Batavia Muckdogs (24-18) on Saturday night.

Junior Tejada (ND) went four innings of two-hit ball and then reliever Adam Leverett (W, 1-1) followed that up with four more innings of shutout ball allowing three hits. Jake Kinney finished it off with three strikeouts in the ninth. It was the third blank sheet of the season for Williamsport (14-27).

Kendall Simmons socked his third home run of the season on a blast over the wall in left-center in the third.

Logan O’Hoppe extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a 2-for-4 performance including an RBI double.

Rudy Rott went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and now has five hits in his last two games. Juan Aparicio also went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and tacked on a double and a triple.

Aparicio now leads the league in batting average (.375), slugging (.567) and OPS (1.011). O’Hoppe is second in slugging (.556) and sixth in OPS (.872).

Corbin Williams swiped his 22nd stolen base of the year to lead the league.

The Crosscutters will look for the road-sweep at first-place Batavia on Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m. with LHP Erik Miller (Round 4, Stanford) starting for Williamsport.
