Batavia, N.Y. – Luis Ramriez struck out the side in the bottom of the 9th inning, sealing the the Crosscutters 2-1 win over the Muckdogs, giving him his fourth save and the Cutters the sweep.

Crosscutters starter Will Stewart had another strong outing, allowing just one run over 5.2 innings of work. Tying the longest outing of his season, striking out a season-high six batters.

Batavia got their lone run of the game against Stewart in the bottom of the 1st inning, getting a RBI single from Micah Brown, that scored Jhonny Santos from 2nd base. Giving the Muckdogs only their 2nd lead of the series.

Nick Maton and Jake Scheiner lead off the top of the 3rd inning with back-to-back singles to give the Cutters runners on 1st and 2nd. Adam Haseley dropped a sacrifice bunt attempt down the 3rd base line, fielded by Batavia catcher David Gauntt, who delivered an errant throw to 1st where 2nd basemen Shao-Pin Ho was covering.

With the throw down the right field line, Maton raced home to tie the game at 1-1.

The Cutters threat was erased on a ground ball to 1st basemen Ben Fisher, throwing home with Scheiner breaking towards home. Scheiner was tagged out between 3rd and home for the 1st out as the throw went to 2nd base where Adam Haseley got caught in a run down. Haseley eluded the intial tag but was retired trying to slide back into 2nd for the 2nd out on the play.

The Crosscutters would see their 3rd inning come to an end with a Jhailyn Ortiz strikeout and the game remaining tied 1-1.

Stewart retired the first two batter of the 6th inning, getting a pair of ground outs. Stewart, then surrendered back-to-back base hits with two outs, marking the end of his night as he was relieved by Connor Brogdon.

Brogdon walked the first batter that he faced to load the bases in the 6th inning. The right-hander was able to get Ben Fisher to line out softly back to the mound to end the Batavia threat and keep the game tied at 1-1.

Jake Scheiner led off the 8th inning with his team-leading 9th double of the season, splitting the fielders in left-center. With Scheiner at 2nd base, Haseley skied a ball to deep left, where it was misplayed by Matt Brooks, allowing Scheiner to get to 3rd and Haseley to reach 2nd base.

With Cole Stobbe at the plate, Travis Neubeck uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Scheiner to race home and slide in under the tag to give the Crosscutters a 2-1 lead. It would be the only run the Cutters scored in frame.

Luis Ramirez entered the game in the bottom of the 9th inning, striking out the first two batters of the inning before allowing a two-out walk to David Gauntt. Gauntt was pinch run for by Sam Castro at 1st base.
