WILLIAMSPORT—A solar eclipse, two rain delays, and one monster walk-off by Latin American.

Day 5 of the Little League World Series offered plenty of excitement as four teams were eliminated while another group inched its way closer to the Championship game of their respective brackets.

Consolation Game B
Australia vs. Midwest at Lamade Stadium, 11 a.m.

The Midwest struggled in two games and will be itching to get back on the field. The same can be said for Australia, which also dropped two games to end up in the first consolation game of the Series.

Australia nearly came back and beat the Caribbean after scoring five runs over the final three innings. It ultimately fell 8-7.

Harrison Wheeldon powered the offense with two hits. He will be key if Australia wants to pullout a win.

The Midwest fell to the Northwest 4-3 to setup the game with Australia. Marcus Phillips scored twice, drove in three runs, and finished with two hits. He, much like Wheeldon, will be important to stop.

Game 21
Mexico vs. Latin America at Volunteer Stadium, 3 p.m.

Latin American won in dramatic fashion, walking its game off with a 3-2 win over the Caribbean. Mexico won in equally dramatic fashion, scoring a run and holding Asia-Pacific off for a 1-0 win.

Omar Romero used one swing to advance his team with a walk-off triple, but the real challenge will be stopping Jonney Rosario, who has been on a tear since landing in Williamsport.

For Latin America, it will be about stopping Andre Garza, who has hit a homerun and pitched his way to a win already.

Game 22
New England vs. Mid-Atlantic at Lamade Stadium, 7:30 p.m.

New England and the Mid-Atlantic will meet for a second time later tonight. In the first meeting New England escaped, but not before the Mid-Atlantic scored late runs to narrowly pull off the upset. The Mid-Atlantic scored nine runs in an inning for the second time in a row to defeat the West 12-9. New England’s offense looked just as good with a 14-6 win over the Northwest.

This might end up like a typical U.S. game filled with plenty of offense and a few clutch defensive plays.
