Wildcats Weekly #34

In yet another week when weather-related postponements were the rule, Pennsylvania College of Technology softball and tennis teams went a combined 0-3 and the golf team finished third in a six-team event.

 

SOFTBALL

After a 26-day layoff, the Wildcats suffered a 9-1 non-conference loss to crosstown rival Lycoming College on Wednesday. Penn College was limited to just three hits.

Other than that, six games scheduled last Sunday, Thursday and Saturday all were postponed.

 

BASEBALL

Doubleheaders scheduled last Sunday, Thursday and Saturday all were postponed.

 

MEN’S TENNIS

On Saturday, hosting Penn State Berks in its North Eastern Athletic Conference opener, Penn College fell, 6-2, with both of its individual wins coming via forfeits. The Wildcats are 0-6.

 

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Hosting Penn State Berks in its NEAC opener on Saturday, Penn College lost, 7-1, to drop to 0-8. Jane Herman posted the lone Wildcat win at No. 3 singles.

 

GOLF

Competing last Sunday in the NEAC Championship Preview event hosted by Bryn Athyn, Penn College tied for third in a six-team event. Wildcat Tyler Marks tied for third among individuals after shooting a 77.

Penn State Berks won the team competition with a 310. Penn College finished with a team score of 341.

Individually for Penn College, Austin Moscariello was 14th with an 85; Ned Baumbach 15th with an 87; and Evan Johnson 18th, with a 92.

Commenting afterward, coach Matt Haile said, “I was very happy for Tyler. His dad was there to watch him in his very first collegiate tournament so it was special.”
